I received my aa from Dmacc before I transferred, and I think it was a great decision. I saved a huge amount of money, and I was instructed by knowledgeable professors in small classes. Going to Dmacc also gave me a chance to figure out exactly what I wanted to do, and to get all my core classes out of the way.

The only thing I didn't like about Dmacc was the students who wasted space by just trying to drift through class.

i took business law at kirkwood and it was a cakewalk. i also took a law class at dmacc, same result. at a university you'd be shitting your pants if you can't handle DMACC's lite version.

saving money is cool but you lose out on a lot of what college is by living at home and going to CC. you really should move out of your comfort zone into a dorming situation. not saying all of you do this, just a suggestion if you do or are thinking of doing it.

edit: chunky, 4 semesters at dmacc would be ~$7500 vs iowa's ~$14,500

$14,500 for 2 semesters at Iowa. Not everyone who goes to DMACC or a CC lives at home. DMACC has dorms for students.

P.S. Being born/living/growing up in Iowa and then going to college in Iowa is staying in a comfort zone.

$3800 a semester tuition x 4 = my math was close.

going from a class size of 23 to 4000+ was a change for me

I hear you about the bills, I was 20 when I actually got my shit together and went back to school. Yes, there are a lot of responsibilities that go with being an adult and going back to school, but it can pay off. I worked full time while I was enrolled at Dmacc to pay off all my debt, and now after getting essentially a free ride to a university I can be a kid again.

except you are jumping from lower level undergrad community college classes to upper level undergrad university classes. the difference is very apparent.
