Default Sealed or ported?

I cant decided between a ported or sealed box for my subwoofer, just wanted to get other peoples opinion on ported or sealed sub boxes

specifically going to be a 15" sub with about 2500w (max)

ported will be louder (alot louder), sealed is more precise

PORT but to have the right size box for a 15' it would take up your whole trunk

ported because it increased efficiency increased low frequency output.

my question is do you really need a ported box with a 15...with 2500 watts pumping through it...and I'm guessing in a civic/integra? that is going to be LOUD as fack! Ive got a 10(beefy 10) pumping 300w in a sealed box (http://www.jdmcity.com/showthread.php?t=14062) and it is LOUD...but unbelievably crisp. That setup is louder, deeper, and harder than my old fosgate 12s with 1200 watts thrown at them in a ported box. I dig some gangster shit...but my shit doesn't rattle A BIT. You know you cringe every time you hear that car coming from a mile away that sounds like body panels are rattling off...that shit was cool when we were 16, not now.

My vote is sealed any day of the weak

if you don't have a civic/integra, and the regal, cutlass, or monte on 24's is your style...port the shit outa that thing! In fact, come to me and I'll do a setup for ya.

(For people with this issue in the future....)

Quote:
Sealed boxes: For deep, precise bass
A sealed box is an airtight enclosure housing your subwoofer. A sealed box is best for any music that demands tight, accurate bass. Expect flat response (not excessively boomy), deep bass extension, and excellent power handling. Since a sealed enclosure tends to require more power than a ported box, use an amplifier with ample wattage for optimum performance.

Ported boxes: For forceful bass
Ported boxes use a vent (called a port) to reinforce low bass response. You get more output than you would from a sealed box at any given amplifier wattage. Some people prefer the sound of ported boxes for rock, heavy metal, or any hard-driving music. Ported boxes can deliver deeper bass than sealed boxes, though they need to be much larger than sealed enclosures to accomplish that.

what you need to do is get a ported box and a sheet of plexi glass. cutt a hole in the glass where your port is, and screw it into your box right in front of your subs. you need to get long enough screws and prolly two inch spacers but it will make it hit so much harder plus you get both benefits of a sealed box and a ported box.
